The grid was designed by a pole living in London then (early 1960s), Romek Marber, who not only did that but designed 20+ covers for the Crime series in a ridiculously short period of time.
(Penguin Collector’s Society’s PENGUIN BY DESIGNERS is a must if you want to know about the making of these paperback Penguins in the 60s and 70s)
